Services
School and Sports Physicals
Have your child ready for school or sports with our thorough physical exams. We’ll assess their overall health and fitness, identify any potential concerns, and provide guidance to keep them active and healthy.
Health History
Physicals are a requirement for participation in school and sports programs that identify issues that could affect a child’s ability to perform well.
During a school or athletics enrollment, schools typically require a thorough assessment that includes a detailed medical history, a physical examination, and screenings for vision and hearing. The medical history involves discussing immunizations, past illnesses and hospitalizations, pre-existing conditions like diabetes or asthma, hospitalizations, allergies, or medications that the child is currently taking. This helps us understand the child’s health background and any potential risks that may arise during physical activities. Parents are encouraged to provide as much detail as possible so that the physician can make informed decisions pertaining to the child's eligibility for school and athletics.

Vital Signs
We are well-versed in local school and sports requirements for physical examinations and well-equipped to handle them.
The physical examination includes checking vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, height, and weight. These measurements are compared against growth charts to assess whether the child is developing appropriately for their age. We also perform a head-to-toe examination, evaluate the child's heart, lungs, abdomen, skin, and musculoskeletal system to identify any underlying conditions that may not be immediately apparent but could pose a risk during sports activities, like heart murmurs or respiratory issues, that prompt further evaluation.
Mental and Emotional
Our Medical Center is well-equipped to handle physical examinations with a focus on physical, mental, and emotional health.
The school and sports physical examination serves as a screening tool to help identify any non-physical concerns that could limit a child’s participation in school and sports. Conditions such as anxiety, depression, and attention/hyperactivity disorders can create barriers to learning and participation in physical activities. We work together with mental health professionals to provide valuable support and strategies for children with special needs. Mental well-being is equally essential, especially for children who may be under pressure to perform in school and sports environments. We include discussions about the child's mood, stress levels, and emotional responses to make sure that they are fit to engage in these activities safely.

Nutrition and Safety
Sports physicals also often include discussions about nutrition, exercise, and safety precautions to safeguard against injuries.
We frequently provide guidance on healthy eating habits, hydration, and proper training techniques to prevent injuries. Educating children about the essence of maintaining a balanced diet and staying active is crucial for their overall health and athletic performance. Sports physicals are an opportunity to discuss safety measures and injury prevention strategies with young athletes, like proper warm-up and cool-down techniques, the use of appropriate gear, and the significance of listening to one’s body to avoid overtraining or burnout. These conversations help to instill a sense of responsibility in young athletes, encouraging them to prioritize their health while pursuing their sports interests.
